The second semifinal of the NBA 2K17 Celebrity Tournament was a match-up between fellow English Premier League footballers Carl Jenkinson and Jack Butland. Butland was untouchable in this round. He was scoring for fun and using his superb shot-stopping experience to great effect to cruise to victory over Jenkinson. The final score was 46-29.
Jenkinson, who was playing as the San Antonio Spurs, had all the fighting talk saying “Now we’re here, I really want to win this.” This was futile as it was Butland, playing as his favoured Cleveland Cavaliers, who came flying out of the blocks and got the first points on the board. From then on it was the Jack Butland show, as he poured more misery on Jenkinson with flashy dunks and deep threes. Butland dispatched Jenkinson with ease and came out the eventual winner by 17 points and will now head to the final where he will be up against England rugby star Anthony Watson, in what is expected to be a thrilling finale.
Speaking about his performance, Jenkinson said:
“It was terrible out there today. Fair play to Jack. He played really well.”
Asked about the match-up with Jenkinson, Butland said:
“The score doesn’t really reflect the competitive nature of the game.”
