Ahead of their Champions League clash with Basel tonight, two Arsenal stars battled it out in the second round of the #NBA2K17 Celebrity Tournament. It was a battle of the right-backs as Carl Jenkinson took on teammate Hector Bellerin and it was Jenkinson who displayed superior gaming talents and came out on top with a narrow 31-29 victory.
Jenkinson, playing as the 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, led from the start against Bellerin’s Oklahoma City Thunder and extended his lead to seven points with only 45 seconds left on the clock. This was followed by friendly taunts from Jenkinson “That hurts dun’ it?”. This, however, stoked the fire in Bellerin and his OKC team attempted a brave comeback and had a chance to win it with a three-pointer at the buzzer, but came up just short. Jenkinson will now head to the semi-finals where he will come up against Stoke City and England goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Speaking of his next matchup, Jenkinson said:
“Well, I know Buts [Jack Butland] is quite good ‘cause I was warming up playing a couple games against him earlier. Yeah I hope I can beat him.”
Bellerin was gracious in defeat, stating:
“It was very close but it didn’t go in so… I’m out!”
